The Iconic Puzzle Game Couldn't Win at This Gaming Ceremony — Another Award Type May Address This Issue

As any major honors show draws close, you'll find a demand for introducing of new categories to honor unsung work and satisfy the spirits of followers who have specialized interests.

My colleague has already made for a horror game category. It would be amazing. The same goes for board games, which is a passionate advocate's mission. But they will have to forgive me if I try to elbow in front just as with other blinkered fanatics, I possess a compelling case for why my demand is the most urgent and significant. Here's the proposal: We need a classification for brain-teasing titles.

Organizing Gaming Categories

Categorizing art by genre defies precise measurement; opinions vary greatly, and inevitably start arguments concluding with vague boundaries. There’s a reason movie academies avoid this approach. Yet it remains a necessary evil in the world of video games, which are so diverse they barely qualify as a single art form.

For comprehensive acknowledgment of achievement in video games to be recognized, and to ensure all game types to have a chance for representation, specific award classifications remain vital.

Present Award Structure

Leading game ceremonies offer these genre categories for Action, Adventure-action titles, Role-Playing, Fighting, Simulation and strategy titles, and Sports/Racing games. Collectively, these classifications actually cover numerous genres, making space possible accommodating various experiences.

Different situation exists for puzzle games. No appropriate category exists for their placement. Consider three of outstanding current releases, showing diverse approaches: structural challenges of one title, fast-paced pattern recognition in a different title, engaging interpersonal challenges from additional release. Which classification works within current classifications? Unfortunately, nowhere.

Recognition Challenges

Numerous examples exist excellent brain-teasers released every year that have no home in entertainment awards, if they accidentally match classification types such as Handheld titles, Virtual reality experiences, and the highly challenging Indie races.

  • A renowned logic title received no recognition completely that year
  • Another creative title missed out during that ceremony
  • A beloved organization game got ignored in 2021
  • Only a few brain-teasers scraped into independent or mobile categories

Importance of Logic Titles

These are often modest productions, but the art in brain-teasers is of massive significance. Well-known matching games count as most popular titles worldwide maintaining this status for an extended period.

The famous puzzle experience competes with popular creative games for the title of highest-selling title ever; it also contends as greatest title ever. Logic titles represent cornerstones within interactive entertainment, while interacting with diverse game types.

The Solution and Justification

Logic titles wouldn't face such difficulty. You could fill multiple candidates interesting, varied, worthy titles annually without trouble — perhaps, with difficulty, because you’d have to leave many worthy titles.

And to reiterate, these are games lacking appropriate categories during prominent ceremonies. Brain-teaser creators are working at the hard edge game development, creating some of the purest expressions of the video game form. Comparable to film action specialists, they deserve recognition. Don't make them wait generations.
