The Animated Series' Showrunner Is Aware of Your Second Season Predictions β And She Has Good News
The much-anticipated Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel arrives on Prime Video soon, and audience theories has been widespread.
Season 1 presents a large cast of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other accompanied by songs about their clashes, and builds tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that drive fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for the new season vary widely, but certain threads emerge over and over: Could a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the binding agreement constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with fan service specifically in mind," the creator commented recently. "However I feel like me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.
That might mean viewers have to wait years for some of the major resolutions β but they could be shocked at how quickly season 2 progresses, and how many of what they're waiting for happens now.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we get some incredible disclosures, some really cool backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. [β¦] We're going to hear much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about the upcoming season β particularly in the format of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a few fans create a prediction grid about the new season," she says. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've already completed a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on Prime Video on October 29.
